Liberty Elementary School District is honored to announce the appointment of Luke Garrison, the District’s communications director, as a member of the Honorary Commander Program by Brigadier General Jason M. Rueschhoff, Luke Air Force Base 56th Fighter Wing Commander.

The Honorary Commander Program unites local community and business leaders with their military counterparts. Both sides get to strengthen their community understanding and relationships. The honorary commanders serve for a term of two years, during which time they learn about the Air Force and various facets of the Luke AFB mission.

Honorary commanders are invited to base and unit events such as ceremonies, social functions, and graduation banquets. Honorary commanders are also encouraged to invite their military counterparts to learn about their respective organizations. This allows the military members to learn from the practices of successful civilian leaders. This is a great partnership opportunity for Liberty Elementary School District.

Furthermore, as an Honorary Commander, Luke Garrison is recognized as a local community leader who supports the mission of Luke Air Force Base. Along with a select few other community leaders in the West Valley, Garrison looks forward to this experience and building important long-lasting partnerships with the base. And with a name like Luke, it’s a natural fit!
