Less than 15 miles away from Blue Horizons Elementary School lies the nation's premier training hub for fighter pilots. Luke Air Force Base is responsible for preparing the next generation of F-16 and F-35 pilots. Thanks to a community partnership through Luke Air Force Base's Honorary Commander Program, Blue Horizons students were able to hear directly from Lt. Col. Michael "Harm" Ress.

He's responsible for teaching student pilots to master the skills it takes to fly F-16s. Seventh grade Blue Horizons students were able to ask Lt. Col Ress questions, try on flight gear, and hear how the education they're receiving right now prepares them for a career like this.

Blue Horizons' signature program is career exploration, and this was an invaluable experience for students to hear and learn from one of our nation's heroes.
