Special Education Resources

It is our goal to properly identify and serve all preschool and school-aged children with disabilities who reside in our district.

The Liberty Elementary School District will make the following services available to all children with disabilities residing within the district:

  • A free, appropriate public education (FAPE).

  • A fair, accurate, and unbiased evaluation to assist in deciding special education and related services.

  • An individualized determination regarding a child’s eligibility for special education and related services by a properly constituted team.

  • An Individualized Education Program (IEP) based upon each child’s individual capabilities and needs.

  • An education in the least restrictive setting in which each child can make educational progress.

  • The same array of academic, nonacademic, physical education, and extracurricular activity services that is available to children without disabilities.

LESD will protect the rights of children and their parents throughout the special education process, is committed to being in complete compliance with federal and state laws and regulations, and to providing parents with accurate information about their rights and responsibilities.
