Arizona Tax Credits
Reduce your Arizona state tax by contributing to Liberty Elementary School District schools! It’s simple; anyone can participate. Beginning in 2016, credit eligible fees paid and contributions made to a public school from January 1 through April 15 of a calendar year may be used as a tax credit on the prior year's tax return. For example, qualifying contributions made to a public school January 1, 2018, to April 15, 2018, may be used as a tax credit on either your 2017 or 2018 Arizona income tax return.
What are tax credit donations?
A tax credit, allowed by Arizona Revised Statute 43-1089.01, is a dollar-for-dollar reduction in the actual tax owed to the State of Arizona regardless of whether or not you have children attending within the district! It is not available for businesses. It reduces your tax liability by the amount you donate, up to $400 for married couples and $200 for single or head of household. For example, if you donate $400 to a Liberty District school activity, you reduce your Arizona state tax bill by $400, or your tax refund will be increased by $400. Multiple tax credit donations can be made as long as the total sum of all donations do not exceed the limits of $200 for single and $400 for married couples.
How do tax credit donations benefit LESD?
Tax credit donations are used to fund extra-curricular programs and activities. Families may take advantage of the Tax Credit option to help cover activity fees. It is a Win-Win opportunity for you, for kids, and for education!
Tax Credit donations are non-refundable.
